zakkarias
‘You’d never forget about me, right?’ zakkarias asks on his latest single ‘afterlife’. A triple threat singer-songwriter, producer, and engineer, he is a fixture of California’s emerging music scene, working alongside fellow creatives across the pop sphere to make his mark on the trending genre.
With a style and sound that leans towards introspection, his latest single blends wistful vocals with smooth electronic production, building to catchy hooks without losing the overarching emotive tone. A groovy alternative pop song, ‘afterlife’ explores how our growing collective tendency towards navel-gazing can trigger, as zakkarias describes, “the desire to last beyond our lifetime,” causing us to “become somebody we don’t recognise.”
An earlier 2025 release, ‘BEGIN’ is similarly emotionally resonant while showing a more upbeat side to the artist, hinting at a range fans might expect to hear more of in future.
Traversing the pop space while incorporating elements of hip-hop and R&B, he cites producer-artists such as Dijon, Joji, Brakence and Quadeca as key influences on his style. Talking of using music as a way to make sense of the world around him, zakkarias hopes the same is true for the effect his songs have on others, “my main driving force is the idea that anybody, no matter how lacking in creativity they think they are, can use it to live a more enjoyable and meaningful life”.
Starting to introduce visuals to his tracks this year with clips for both ‘BEGIN’ and ‘afterlife’, zakkarias hints at an artist that is only getting started, committed to growing his creative output, and ensuring that no one will forget him anytime soon. Playing live for the first time in 7 years, catch him at Breaking Sound’s next line-up at Rudolph’s Bar and Tea in LA on the 17th December.
