O. EWOLA
For O. Ewola, music is more than entertainment. He describes it as a “ministry” with the mission of connecting people and cultures around the world.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, O. Ewola (full name: Oluwaseun Ewola) is a Nigerian-American artist dedicated to sharing his very own brand of afrobeats, which fuses together elements of R&B and hip hop with African and Caribbean influences. The results can be observed in “Temptation”, one of his latest releases. With memorably straight-forward lyrics (the track opens with the words “lately, I’ve been craving you slowly”) and undeniably catchy melodies, the song is both an exploration of Ewola’s own experiences and an exceptional showcase of his skills as a performer. His smooth delivery and playful vocals swiftly make an impression when heard alongside the distinctive beat.
Coming from an impressive modeling background and having a long history with music and poetry, O. Ewola has had quite a unique artistic journey. Back in 2020, he was featured in Beyoncé’s award-winning musical Black is King. He was also a fashion model for Vogue Italia and the founder of the No Wahala Just Vibes (‘wahala’ meaning ‘trouble’), a collective that organizes events with the goal of empowering musicians and creatives of all kinds.
Today, Ewola works on promoting his music and vision through live experiences, social media marketing, and carefully put-together music videos. Released last January, the video for his song “MO FẸ Ọ” is an example of his unique and very intentional aesthetic that transmits elegance and playfulness. Across O. Ewola’s work, there’s a clear pattern. Whether it’s a video, a song or a live performance, there’s vibrant enthusiasm behind it - a contagious excitement for music and its power to move people.
